Sarah is Here & Healthy! (Mama, too–Whew!)

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Well, my third granddaughter has entered our world.  Sarah Isabelle G. was born this afternoon, weighed 8# 13 oz. and measured 20 1/4" long.  She and her mother Rachel are fine, but Rach was still in the recovery room when Sarah's daddy phoned me with the breaking news.  [sound of restless, drumming fingers]

Whether Sarah has bent pinkies or not is something I'll learn in due time, I guess.  (My veteran readers will remember that bent pinkies are a harmless genetic oddity that my children and I share.)  Will Sarah share this trait with her mother & me?  Maybe.  But it's not important, of course.

I think I already said in my previous blog entry that my DW & I are flying to NC on Tuesday to see Rach, her husband Scott, and Sarah Isabelle.  I'll take fotos once I'm there which I'll post on this blog when I return to THE jobhunter's house of Texas.

Richard Retires

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

As of 4 p.m. CST on January 25, 2008, I am officially "retired."  And that's good.  Retirement checks will begin appearing in my USPS mailbox in February and my medical insurance coverage will begin then, too.

I'll never again teach in a public school.  Therefore, since I'm no longer an English teacher, the nickname "Daddio" is irrelevant now, isn't it?  (You DO know the explanation behind the name "Daddio" with which I've willingly been associated for so long, right?)

As most of you already know, I'll spend much of my time for a while job-hunting, not blogging or surfing the Internet or fishing.

One thing I must do is travel to NC early in February.  My daughter Rachel there will have a Caesarian section procedure next Friday in order that Sarah, her ALREADY 9 lb., 11 oz. baby, will be born.  My DW and I will be there for a few days to support Rachel, to see her husband, and to meet Sarah, our third grandchild.

However, if I ever get MSN Messenger to work on this new laptop of mine, I'll gladly chat a little bit with my dear friends out there while I'm at home here in Southeast Texas.

WORK

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Snow In BeijinG

Thursday, January 17th, 2008
Although there is still many things yet to do..  (like the 3000 names..) yet work is wonderfully beautiful.. a break from the normal, routine life. Snow is so pure. This could be the first enconter to somethings so amazing that it leaves a trace of warmth theat my buddies could bring. If only i could bring this scene back to my brothers.. Lunch break is over, today, there are showing prison break instead of Heros season 2. *haiz so sad.. Hopefully tommorow they will show heros again. Jaa~

The first thing that come to mind when in Beijing is definately the Famed Duck. After gathering almost all the GIP people, edison organised a Outing for everybody to meet. Due to the limitations of livespaces, i am not able to put up anymore pictures. Till next month then.

There are other famed side dishes like the duck heart, tongue(same price as a duck) etc. But the best is the duck skin. It's crisp and upon entering the mouth it melts. Although the meal is so expensive, it is well worth the Duck. The rest of the dishes is nothing much of a hoo-ha, so pls wait till the pictures come online. Till the next entery.. ~chao..

Day 3 Of Work

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008
Today i had a new assignment; to sort out 3000+ e-mail names and to find out what is the organisation name, address and contact info. A gruelling task, but still time passes quickly when you are doing things. Didn't really eat breakfast this morning as i woke up late. Qin Ning forgot to buy me breakfast too although she promised. :P maybe she forgot. :) Luckily i had some French Milk bread with me so i just ate it while waiting fo lunch to come. Luch was great as usual; a mere 10 yuan ( provided by the comapny) we could have a choice of meat and free low of vegies (2), rice/bun, side dishes (e.g. salty vege, beansprouts) and soup. It was some sort like how much u could pile on your plate. I love the meals here. :)

After lunch Qin Ning was once again tired, so we proceded back to rest, but this time we went into the TV room for TV and found out they were screnning Heros Season 1! Nice.. well back to work.. then at 4.30pm we had another briefing on the Patent laws of china, plus another briefing on the benefits and workflow of the company. It felt like school lecture in chinese.. Really boring. 2molo still got 1 more. OMG.

After that at 5.30, i headed to try the Korean classes. Luckily for me i had good teachers like Hanna and steven who taught me a little korean so some of the words i was able to recognise. hehe.. then at 6pm, Dinner time!

Dinner was "Cho You Ping" and the rest of normal vegies. Tried a new route home. Maybe i will hit the gm on friday when there is no dinner provided. Signing off now, till 2molo... Night..
